This music video, set to the song "Meat Grinder" by MF DOOM, was rendered frame-by-frame in Photoshop over the course of 3 weeks. At 12 frames per second for 2 minutes and 13 seconds, that's 1,596 frames. Now you may be thinking, "Isn't there an easier way to do this?" The answer? Absolutely. But I used this project as a way to learn Photoshop inside and out. I tested out different tools, techniques, and resources to create each scene, resulting in a cocktail of different styles and aesthetics. Without this project, I wouldn't even know what a clipping mask was.

I chose this song because the artist behind it, MF DOOM, is known for his eclecticism and his distinct visual style, which is a big inspiration for me. Listening to and exploring new music is a huge part of my life, and MF DOOM is one of the first artists that I became really excited to listen to.
The idea behind this video—to explore as many different visual styles as possible—was inspired by a different rapper: Little Simz. The music video for her song "Gorilla" is a masterwork of visual exploration, and it really opened my eyes to the idea that one work of art doesn't need to adhere to a single style. You can find that video here: Little Simz - Gorilla (Official Video).
